With a legacy spanning over 100 years, there is a lot to say “about” Glen Echo Country Club.

A Legend Is Born…

Established in 1901, Glen Echo is the oldest, continually running country club and golf course west of the Mississippi River. It is also the oldest, continuously operating Olympic venue in the world. Glen Echo opened to glowing reviews as the first, complete 18-hole golf course in St. Louis and is without a doubt the most historic private club in the area. Glen Echo became world renown when it hosted the Olympic Golf Championships in 1904. Like all country clubs of that era, Glen Echo was home to high society, their family, and friends. The grounds and clubhouse set the stage as the backdrop to weddings, galas and private socials for some of the most prominent names in St. Louis history.

Present Day…

As society and culture have evolved, so has Glen Echo. The days of the elite, chauffeur driven crowds are gone; replaced instead by a more contemporary entrepreneurial spirit of professionals and small business owners alike. Though Glen Echo has embraced its many transformations, two things have remained perpetually unchanged - golf and community. The golf course has stood the test of time, providing a challenge to golfers of all handicaps, skill levels and ages. The Men’s Golf Association has competitive tournaments each season where the emphasis is on fun and friendship.  And for the ladies, there are three leagues available:  a Nine-Hole Group and an Eighteen-Hole Group on Wednesday mornings, and a relaxed, social 9-Hole Golf League on Tuesday evenings.  And for the couples who enjoy golf together, there are some wonderful opportunities for mixed events such as the Couples Nine and Dines, Couples Member/Guest, and the Divorce Open.  And for the kids, Junior Programming fills their summers with golf, swim, and tennis activities.  

Off the course, social programs and events abound throughout the year, especially during the summer months and on holidays. Our members, with their diverse interests and needs, love these wide-ranging programs. The grounds and clubhouse continue to play host to some of the most picturesque weddings and fabulous private parties and events in the St. Louis area.

The Future Is Bright…

If you spend a little time at Glen Echo it is easy to be enveloped in the historic surroundings our members so proudly preserve.  However, it is hard not to feel the sense of excitement we have about our future.  Glen Echo is committed to the diversity of modern society and from this our membership continues to adapt to fit the ever growing needs.   Looking to the future, Glen Echo will continue to focus on delivering unique golf and family experiences that are grounded in our one-of-a-kind heritage while embracing the membership needs of today.
